We’re kicking off Black History Month with two black-owned indie brands that I recently discovered on Instagram! I highly encourage you to not just support and purchase from black businesses just for this month but all year round. Without any further ado, let’s chat brands.

Mocha Bae Beauty focuses on creating natural glam makeup products for brown skin beauties. Since launching on December 5, 2020, the brand has increased its inventory from sultry lipsticks, glosses, and lashes to eyeshadow palettes and brow pencils, all priced affordably. I highly encourage you to stock up on the lashes; most of the styles are flirty and natural-looking. 

Lip Bully, as its name suggests, caters to lips with bold colors and a badass attitude. This brand burst onto the scene on April 29, 2019 with lipsticks and glosses. Now there are lip liners, lip creams, brow pencils, and body scrubs in the arsenal, with more products coming soon. Everything ranges between $8 and $16, meaning you can splurge on lippies with confidence.
